Announcing our partnership with navy youth sports!
In July, we sponsored Naval Air Station Oceana’s Youth Sports and Fitness program, allowing the program to refund registration fees for all 100 players participating in NAS Oceana’s 2024 baseball season. “The impact of this sponsorship is undeniable,” said NAS Oceana Youth Sports and Fitness coordinator Ryan Krus. “NAS Oceana runs the largest sports league in the Mid-Atlantic region, so receiving this support has an incredible impact on not just our program but the parents of our participants as well.”
Bag’s Buddies is planning to further assist NAS Oceana’s Youth Sports and Fitness programs as they both continue their mission to grow, support, and build up sports programs and their positive effect on children’s lives.
“I believe that we all understand the positive impact that youth sports programs have,” said Krus. “They teach kids teamwork, build character, and lay the foundation for leadership skills that they will use throughout life. They also provide a great support system for military children who face their own specific hardships.”
J&A Starting strides partnership
In 2023 Bag's Buddies partnered with J&A Racing Starting Strides as part of our stated goal to enable access to youth sports. "BAG" was a talented multi-sport athlete and was a huge believer in the power of athletics to shape kids into future leaders.
The program provides scholarships to schools in economically disadvantaged communities to help eliminate the barriers that prevent students from running the Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile. In 2023 Bag's Buddies sponsored Betty F. Williams Elementary School.
The program includes the following for up to 50 students at each school:
- Running shoes
- Entry into the Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile
- School shirt to wear on race day
- Transportation on race day
Great NEck Baseball League
Beginning in 2022 and culminating in 2023, Bag's Buddies partnered with the Great Neck Baseball League to donate and install a much needed scoreboard on the Pinto League field.
Great Neck Baseball League continues to provide kids an incredible baseball experience. We were very proud of John's son Shane who threw out the first pitch on opening day 2023!
