Our First Race!
Bag's Buddies was born shortly after John's death at a celebration of his life. Four friends vowed to honor John by completing the Ironman 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge. We followed through, signed up, and after thousands of miles of training, we completed the race on June 5th 2022. Through the incredible generosity of friends, family and strangers, we were able to raise over $8,700 in support of the Captain John "Bag" Hefti, USN Memorial Scholarship Fund
IM 70.3 Virginia's Blue Ridge
One of the most difficult 70.3 Ironman Races in the world. The race begins outside of Roanoke Virginia and then begins a grueling climb of over 2,000' onto the Blue Ridge parkway. Racers are rewarded with spectacular views and a long descent back into Roanoke.
Same Team!
One of John's favorite mantras was "Same Team!" We couldn't have completed this race without the support of our families, pictured here in their Bag's Buddies Gear.
